The journey of this book began seven to eight years ago, when I first started making notes of my father’s incredible life story together with him at our home in Johannesburg.
We then commissioned Suzanne Belling, of blessed memory, a well-known author and long-time congregant and friend, to write the story, based on interviews with my father and her knowledge of him and his background. Her book was later supplemented by later changes, additions and editing by David Saks, himself an author, Gwen Podbrey and myself, including rewording it in the first person, with my father’s constant input.
The book has been through many incarnations, a story in itself, which I might share at an appropriate time, but after the various versions, the style is a combination of the work of all four of all four of us.
I am still considering various options for how to proceed with publications (any sponsors or leads would be welcome,) but for a taste of a fascinating story, I am posting a preview of the prologue and first chapter here.
